Microgrids

Microgrids, as small-scale power systems with the ability of self-supply and islanding, are emerging as core components of the future power grid. There are many advantages to this technology, from increasing grid’s and customers’ reliability, resilience, and efficiency, to providing the required infrastructure for a more streamlined renewable energy integration. There are however still many control, operation, and planning challenges that are yet to be solved to mature the microgrid technology while reducing the associated high capital cost and enabling a widespread deployment.
